OUR HISTORY:

The Evolution of Disc Golf

Disc golf has deep roots that stretch back to the early 20th century, but it wasn’t until the 1970s that it truly began to resemble the sport we know today. With the formation of the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) in 1976, the sport received a standardized set of rules, and tournaments began to pop up across the country. As the sport gained traction, courses were developed in parks, and players across the U.S. embraced the easy-to-learn, low-cost, outdoor activity.

By the 1990s, disc golf was beginning to emerge from the fringes and move toward mainstream popularity. But back then, finding high-quality discs and equipment was still a challenge. That’s where we came in. Gotta Go Gotta Throw was founded with the goal of becoming a trusted source for disc golfers, both in Minnesota and beyond. Our commitment to stocking a wide selection of gear from top brands like Innova and Discraft, alongside our own innovations, helped us grow into a cornerstone of the disc golf community.

OUR CONTRIBUTIONS:

Over the past three decades, Gotta Go Gotta Throw has been a driving force in advancing disc golf. We’ve not only provided gear for players, but we’ve also sponsored tournaments, supported local disc golf leagues, and maintained a strong connection with the community. As a small business, we’ve faced significant economic hurdles, from national recessions to local issues like prolonged road construction near our physical store. Despite these obstacles, we’ve persevered. The rise of online shopping also created new competition, pushing us to expand our digital presence and enhance our e-commerce capabilities. Today, we proudly serve customers not just from our Minnesota store but from all around the world through our online platform.
